TATCHA Skin Care (Review)

Here is a picture of the products I will review:

TATCHA ~~~SPARKLE_N_SOUL 2014~~~

TATCHA ~~~SPARKLE_N_SOUL 2014~~~ NOTE: PRODUCT DOES NOT COME W/ TIARA, SORRY 😦

Luminous Dewy Skin Mist ($48)–from their website this product claims to be “A silky liquid moisturizer of Squalane, Red Algae and our HADASEI-3 complex can be misted for a boost of soothing hydration, resulting in dewy, luminous skin anytime, anywhere.”

THE BEAUTIFUL:
-Packaging is really pretty
-Refreshing

BONUS(ES):
-The fragrance is not over-powering and personally, I like it
-Non-irritating

THE UGLY:
-Price ($48 for 40ml / 1.35 fl oz)
-Boost of soothing hydration does NOT equal hydrating

GRADE: C-

TATCHA’s wording for the product description here is an example of really great marketing. The way I see it is this product CAN be misted. Would I feel refreshed when cool water is misted on my face during hot and/or dry days? Yes, but I wouldn’t recommend paying $48 for that. Especially if you live in a humid climate or plan on traveling to the exotics–this is not the product to bring! Using this will not result in a dewy look, you’ll just look sweaty. I would recommend passing on this product, unless you absolutely love the packaging.

Radiant deep brightening serum ($185)

THE BEAUTIFUL:
-Great for sensitive skin
-Texture is smooth, almost gel-like but thinner
-Feels moisturizing and lightweight

BONUS(ES):
-Packaging is sturdy and has a luxurious feel
-Has a light fragrance, but again, not overpowering and non-irritating (for my skin)

THE UGLY:
-The price is rather high for 50 ml / 1.7 oz
-I did not notice any brightening in my skin

GRADE: B+

I really liked this product. Although I did not notice any changes in the ‘luminosity’ of my skin, the pros outweighed the cons this time. I have very sensitive skin and this did not agitate it at all. I enjoyed having it as part of my TATCHA skin care routine (or any skin care routine, really). Even though the price is steep, many serums out there charge outrageous prices and have even less benefits to back them up! If you have the money and want a serum, this is worth taking a look at!

Classic Rice Enzyme Powder ($65)

THE BEAUTIFUL:
-Superb for sensitive skin
-Non-drying
-Very little or no fragrance
-A little goes a long way

BONUS(ES):
-Packaging is easy to use and reduces potential mess

THE UGLY:
-The price

GRADE: A+

Honestly, I can’t think of many negative things for this one. As I’ve mentioned before, my skin is VERY sensitive. Initially I didn’t even want to try this product because I’ve used exfoliators before and they all felt like rocks on my poor skin. This exfoliator is wonderful at its job! It even exfoliates without drying. The website recommends about a 1/2 teaspoon, which is a little less than how much I use for my entire face (I’d say I use at least a teaspoon). Even though the price is more expensive, it is worth it, and I would recommend it to anyone!

Original Aburatorigami – Japanese Blotting Papers ($12)

THE BEAUTIFUL:
-It is 100% Abaca Leaf with bits of gold flake in it!
-Does not disturb makeup, and actually absorbs oil in the process
-Big leaf (3.74″ x 3.74″) that can be used on both sides

BONUSES:
-Made without powders (wont dry out your skin)
-Fragrance-free
-Handmade

THE UGLY:
-Price ($12 for 30 sheets)

GRADE: A

TATCHA did a great job incorporating the mystique of a geisha’s beauty with these all-natural, handmade blotting papers. They are super effective, and your makeup will stay put. Although the price is high for 30 sheets, the papers were so big for me, I cut them in half. So really, you’re paying $12 for 60 high quality, all-natural sheets– I would definitely recommend them!

OVERALL:

TATCHA is a smart, elegant, and beautiful brand in my opinion. Their packaging is luxurious, their skin care is thoughtful, and the customer service is fair and excellent all around!  I used these products for at least 9 months- 1 year+.  As with all products, results and opinions will vary.  These were simply mine.  If you’d like to learn more about their story and products, check them out at http://www.tatcha.com/
